Sheridan, Wyoming is a great American city and a place we’re proud to call home. Located in the north-central part of the Equality State, it boasts a population of over 17,000, a diverse local economy, and is a popular vacation spot for many raptured by its Old West charm.

Here are a few fun facts about our hometown:

– Sheridan takes its name from Philip Sheridan, a Civil War general who fought for the Union and later worked to create and preserve Yellowstone National Park.

– Sheridan once had an electrically powered streetcar line in the early 20th century.

– Sheridan is located about an hour’s drive from the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument in Montana, where in 1876 a major conflict between the United States Army and the Cheyenne and Lakota peoples broke out.

– Sheridan is home to several historic landmarks and notable events, including the Sheridan Inn (billed as the “Home of Buffalo Bill”, which was created and managed by “Buffalo” Bill Cody), the Sheridan County Museum, the King’s Saddlery Museum (also known as the Don King Museum and home to many artifacts of the Old West), and the WYO Rodeo (about to celebrate its 85th year!).
